Since 4th of January, the Inter Hall Games (IHG) have brought different memories and experiences to the sportsmen, sportswomen and supporters from the six halls. 18th of February was the 46th day of IHG 08/09, the last day of IHG as it finally came to a conclusion at the SRC field today. It was the last chance for the sportsmen and sportswomen from six halls to battle for the championship.
Track and field guys team are led by Jie Song, a year 2 student from FASS and Teshil, a year 2 mechanical engineering student. The guys’ race is divided into two parts which are 4 x 100m relay and 4 x 400m relay. Our 4 x 100m relay team consists of Wu Qiong, Xin Jin, Jie Ren and Gareth. Besides, 4 x 400m relay team consist of Wei Liang, Yassin Bin Abdul, Gareth and Jie Ren.
After the female 4x 100m relay, it was the most anticipated event of the day – the 4×100m male relay. Heading the team was our first runner, Wu Qiong. From the starting point, the race was led by athletes from EH and KR. A fatal lapse in the baton passing between Wu Qiong and our second runner, Xin Jin allowed the RH athlete to catch up with us. The third and last runners - Jie Ren and Gareth managed to close in on the gap but ultimately, our guys team earned a 4th position.
Next up was the female 4 x 100m relay. After this, the 4 x400m male relay team prepared for their coming race. Wei Liang was the first runner who did not start very well. However, although he did not overtake his rivals, he managed to give them a run for their money. Following this, he passed the baton to his partner, Yassin B. Abdul. He tried to close the gap with other runners and successfully overtook the runner from RH. He finished his race with the fifth position. The last two runners, Gareth and Jie Ren had by accident collided and tumbled unto the ground at the point of passing on the baton. It was just not our day as a sixth placing was hard to swallow.
Finally, it came to the last event, the medley race. The race was fully anticipated by cheers and applauses from the supporters of the six halls. Christabelle was the first runner for 100m. The race was continued by Wu Qiong. Although he had already ran in the 4 x 100m relay, he still managed to maintain the 3rd position in the race. Xin Jin carried on the race with full confidence in the 200m pursuit. The following were two female runners, Kit Fei(400m) and Zhi Yun(800m). Zhi Yun sprinted all the way as she climbed one position ahead. Nicolas was the last runner. He successfully maintained the hard-fought second position and Temasek finished the race proudly in this position.
All in all, our guys team ended the whole event with a credible overall third placing. Even though we did not manage to spring any surprises, our runners really put in effort in their training. We should be proud of their performance because they had given it their all for the race.

“He tried to close the gap with other runners and successfully overtook the runner from RH. He finished his race with the fifth position.”
Don’t think the information is quite correct since RH came in 3rd, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd for the 4 respective legs.
Overtook Mok Ying Ren from Sheares to be exact.
And its Yasin.
“had by accident collided and tumbled unto the ground at the point of passing on the baton”
May I know WTF is this? Simply cannot be bothered about IHG?
Lack of training? Whatever the reason is.. Is very very disappointing to see TH is getting last for track event.
Shame on u guys
When one hit by car accidentally, could others say that he had never learn how to cross the road? Obviously the writer has wrote “gareth and jin ren collided accidentally” in a clearly manner..
So..shame on you too, brother. for not think rationally before you write.
If you want to flame. Leave your name and hall.
Don’t hide behind your screen and be a keyboard warrior.
