In the evening of 18th February, all the athletes and the supporters gathered at SRC field for the track event, which is the last event for the inter-hall games. All the TH athletes were well-prepared after months of the track and gym trainings. The girl team which is lead by Kit Fei was in their best condition hoping that they can defeat all their competitors.
The 1st event of the day is the 4 x 100m relay of the female. Amelia, Kit Fei, Serene, and Sabrina were the four runners who were taking part in the event. The first runner, Amelia was trying her best to minimize the distance between her and the two runners ahead. It was a success. With the hard work of Amelia, Kit Fei, the 2nd runner, managed to overtake one of the opponents. After the overtaking, TH was in the second position and this made the supporters extremely excited. Everyone from TH showed their hall spirit and cheered very hard for the athletes. The position was maintained by Serene after the second passing of the baton. There was a slight miss in the last passing but the fourth runner, Sabrina, was able to grab the baton back in hand in the shortest time. She did her very best and tried to speed up towards the finish line. After all, the TH track and field female team was announced as the 1st runner up for the 4 x 400m event!
The next event for the girls is the 4 x 400m relay. TH’s 1st runner, Sabrina, was at the third position in the race for the 1st 300m. However at the last 100m, Sabrina tried her very best to overtake the competitors. Without disappointing the teammates and TH supporters, Sabrina was able to change her position in the race from the third to the second. After the 1st passing of the baton, TH was in the position right after the runners from Kent Ridge and Eusoff hall. The position was maintained by Amelia and Serene who were the 3rd and fourth runners.
In the medley, Christabelle, who is good in many sports, managed to keep the gap between her and the competitors ahead of her the smallest possible. After the 1st 100m of the race, the baton was passed to the second runner, Wu Qiong, for the next 100m race and Xing Jing for the subsequent 200m.Although the gap between KR’s runner and TH’s runner was quite a big one, Kit Fei, the fourth runner managed to reduce the distance. The 800m runner Zhi Yun, kept her pace constant at the 1st 400m in order to conserve her energy. At the last 400m, she started to raise her speed and she actually did a pretty well job as she overtook KR’s runner and was in the 2nd position. The baton was then passed to the last 800m male runner, Nicolas. He was the second runner who reached the finish line.
After all the track events ended, TH track and field female team was announced as the 2nd runner up for the overall events. KR was the 1st runner up and the glory of the day was addressed to Eusoff Hall. Our hall was announced as the 2nd runner up for the overall inter-hall game in the closing ceremony. All TH supporters cheered for all the players and athletes who played very hard with their blood and sweat in every game.
