TH Bursary
Eligibility
1. Applicants must be matriculated students of NUS.
2. The gross monthly household per capita income of applicants should not exceed $1000. This ceiling may be revised subject to prevailing economic conditions. Applicants who do not meet this criterion may also be considered under special circumstances to be decided by the Temasek Hall Bursary Committee (THBC).
3. Applicants must not concurrently hold any other form of financial assistance e.g. grants, bursaries, scholarships. For those with other forms of support, prior approval from the respective awarding bodies must be obtained.
4. Applicants must be of sound character and exemplary conduct and have a record of active involvement in school, JC or hall activities or other such university-related activities.
5. Applicants who meet the above criteria will be evaluated for the bursary.
Selection
Applicants are evaluated firstly on the basis of their financial needs. Needy applicants are then evaluated on the basis of academic merit, conduct and active involvement in TH/Co-curricular activities.
1. Freshmen
A freshman applicant must obtain at least a ‘B’ grade for all ‘A’ level subjects taken, with a pass in the General Paper, or its equivalent.
In addition, the freshman applicant must have strong co-curricular activity records. Evidence of having participated at National Level sports and receipt of achievement awards, will be taken into consideration.
2. Seniors
Applicants who are senior students are firstly evaluated on the basis of their financial needs. Needy seniors are required to maintain an acceptable CAP score of 3.5 and a minimum of 25 CCA points for sports, culture and other activities.
TH Ambassador and Assistant to Hall Office
Successful bursary holders will automatically become Ambassadors and Assistants of Temasek Hall.
Ambassadors and assistants are expected to:
1. Meet visitors and guests of the Hall, sometimes showing them to the Guest Rooms after office hours.
2. Privileged to showcase their hostel rooms to VIPs upon arrangement by the Hall Office (advance notice will be given).
3. Assist the Hall Office when the needs arise.
